The Magnate Pannier Messenger Backpack is the third generation of our pannier briefcase concept. Securely attach it to standard bike racks and quickly convert it to a 24-litre office-ready messenger bag (or backpack) for your laptop and daily gear.

Three modes of Magnate.

PANNIER
Unzip and fold the top flap inside. Place on the rack, red latch secures pannier to rack. Clip the lower strap to the side of the rack for extra security. Fits all standard and oversized racks 6 - 16mm.

MESSENGER
Pull flap out of back pocket. Zip away mounting system. Clip lower strap buckles together.

BACKPACK
Pull backpack straps out of the back pocket. Clip backpack straps into lower D-Rings.

Good solid bag

I ordered this bag for my laptop specifically. It is very large and has more then enough room for my office needs. I'm a small woman on a small bike and I still manage to have a nice fit without having my foot catch in the bag.

Design flaw with the magnets closing. Flapping all the time while riding. Thought it has also a clop closing but its only weak magnets. Rest of the bag is great.

I love it, but ...

I am very happy with a lot about this back, but one thing puzzles me; with the fantastic materials used and the great stitching, why did Two Wheel Gear choose plastic attachment points?
I love the water-resistant coating which means I never need to use the included rain cover.
I love the numerous pockets and compartments, that can hold a variety of things in pockets of various shapes and sizes.
I love that it is 'inter-modal'; from pannier, to messenger bag, to backpack.
Like I said before, the fabric and sewing are great, but plastic hooks and loops for the straps. Why?
I have no problem with the plastic bike rack attachement, but the plastic hooks and loops are very flimsy and I anxious await the day that they break.
Other than that, well done.

Thanks Travis, I wouldn't loose too much sleep about anything breaking on that bag, especially the hardware. I can assure you nothing is cheap plastic on that bag. They may be light but those hooks (i am assuming for attaching the backpack straps) will hold a lot and will certainly live out a very long and useful life. But we appreciate the feedback and may need to add some more information on the hardware we use. Cheers and all the best!

Kicks Much Ass

There's not much to say here other than, "this thing rocks".

Based on the YouTube reviews, I may encounter issues the first time I ride with this in the wet and yuck, but we're not there yet. So far, this thing is freakin' awesome!
